There are lies, damn lies and statistics no where is there more deception than in the world of food and supplement sales.
I picked up some interesting news today from two sources concerning the deception behind the marekting of Acai berry as the wonder ingredient.
The story goes that this fruit saved a tribe from extinction. It has a powerful nutritional profile. But some claims about it are outrageously bogus… so says Dr Mercola and I would encourage you to watch his interview (no I don't market his products). He explains that even though the Acai Berry is known to have great health benefits, other issues have to be taken into consideration.
Purity of ingredient, sourcing, standardization etc.

The other information I received was concerning a number of network and internet marketing companies apparently making false claims about product endorsement
On August 19, 2009, Harpo, Inc., producers of The Oprah Winfrey Show and The Dr. Oz Show, along with Dr. Mehmet Oz, filed a trademark infringement complaint against 40 Internet marketers of dietary supplements including MonaVie. You can get the full list of companies here.
Neither Ms. Winfrey nor Dr. Oz has ever sponsored or endorsed any acai berry, resveratrol, colon cleanse or dietary supplement product.
The question that needs to be asked is this. Is Mona Vie making these claims or have they lost control of the individuals marketing their product. Over zealous individuals who make wild claims that damage the parent company and the good name of network marketing.
You be the judge. Me. I know that all too often marketing people put just enough of a 'magic ingredient' into a product to make a claim, but not enough to make a difference.
